Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visits flood affected areas in Punjab on Saturday 17th August 2013 took an aerial view of flood-hit areas near Head Marala, Pasrur, Zafarwal and Qila Ahmedabad in a helicopter. Earlier on his arrival at the Sialkot International Airport, the Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing on the flood situation by the district administration.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was received by Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Chaudhry Ehsan Iqbal, Member National Assembly Chaudhry Armughan Subhani and several members of the Punjab Assembly 17 August 2013. Talking to ministers and local parliamentarians during his short stay at the airport, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the government stood by the flood affected people in the hour of need and all-out efforts would be made for their rehabilitation as soon as early.
The Prime Minister said he was receiving information about the latest flood situation and relief activities round the clock.
Federal Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and MNA Ch Armughan Subhani briefed the Prime Minister about the flood situation and relief activities in the district. They also informed him about the problems of flood victims.
The Pakistan Muslim League Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif government has a comprehensive programmed for the relief and rehabilitation of the affected people.Relief camps have been set up in the flood-hit areas.
Later, Armughan Subhani told media persons that the Prime Minister had taken serious notice of cutting off of 85 villages of Bajwat from other areas. He had directed the district administration to take measures for the rehabilitation of land routes and the provision of ration, medicines and other essential items to the marooned people.
He said the Prime Minister had also ordered a survey of losses due to rains and floods to compensate the victims early as soon as possible 2013.
