The martyred officers were identified as SHO Muhammad Hassan Khan and Constable Nisar Khan. Injured officers included Constable Mirza Arshad Iqbal, Constable Arshad Gnanagar, and two others, one of whom is from the Mera area.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack, calling it an act of cowardice by Khawarij terrorists. He paid tribute to the martyred officers, describing them as “honorable martyrs” and extended condolences to their families. Naqvi stated, “The sacrifices of the K-P police force are a source of pride for the nation. We stand firmly with the families of our brave martyrs.”

Background on Security Operations

The Gnanagar attack follows ongoing security operations in K-P and Balochistan. Since December 9, security forces have neutralized 43 terrorists during intelligence-based operations (IBOs). Of these, 18 terrorists were eliminated in K-P, while 25 were killed in Balochistan.

Key operations include the neutralization of six terrorists in Lakki Marwat (K-P) and 10 others in Musakhel and Panjgur (Balochistan). According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), these actions have significantly disrupted terrorist groups like Fitna-al-Khawarij.
