The federal government has appointed Zulfiqar Cheema as Inspector General Sindh Police.
The decision was taken in a meeting of Federal Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Zulfiqar Cheema was serving as Inspector General of Motorway police before his appointment as SIndh IGP.
However, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has expressed annoyance over the removal of Shahid Nadeem Baloch as Sindh IGP while the Sindh government has informed the Federal Cabinet about its reservations.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while chairing cabinet meeting in Karachi in order to review law and order situation on Wednesday said that government is not in hurry to launch any operation in Karachi for restoration of peace and tranquility in the metropolis.
The meeting was also attended by the Provincial Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad and chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
Zulfiqar Cheema replaced Shahid Nadeem Baloch that is the former IG Sindh Police.
