The government initially planned to increase the fees, but the Caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, decided to delay it until 16 January 2024. He wants to give people more time to get their licenses at the current rates. Chief Minister Naqvi is concerned about the growing number of people driving without licenses and warns that not following the rules could lead to legal trouble, even jail.

To make it easier for people, Punjab has introduced a new way to get a driving license. Learner permits are now issued every day and are valid for 06 months. To start the process, aspiring drivers need a copy of their ID, a Rs.60/- ticket from the Post Office, and a Highway Code Book from the Traffic Police Office.

LTV (Rickshaw, Taxi, Tractor Commercial, Hiace): 21 years

HTV: 22 years

To get a learner’s permit, you need to submit a copy of your ID, a Rs.60 ticket, the Highway Code Book, and a medical certificate. For a regular license, the process is even simpler. You need a copy of your ID, three passport-size photos, a medical certificate, and other necessary documents.

The vehicle’s owner comes on the road for driving they must check the Traffic Challan Rates for this year. In order to escape from the challan being charged they need to drive safely and follow the SOPs traffic rules and regulations.
