Dr. G. W. Leitner was a British who established the University of Punjab with great efforts and after him Professor. A. C. Woolner became the first Vice-Chancellor of this University from 1928-1936, played a key role in its development during the initial decades of this century. His statue still stands in front of the Allama Iqbal Campus of the University. After independence, all the needs of the university will be fulfilled in 1947.
